Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility at Squirrels. Children’s welfare comes first in our recruitment, training, routines, environment and response to any concern.

A secure nursery day
Access to the building is controlled, collection arrangements are confirmed and visitors are managed carefully. Daily checks, risk assessments and established routines help keep rooms, equipment, food and outdoor spaces safe.
Listening to children
Practitioners know the children in their care and pay attention to words, behaviour and changes in presentation. Children are supported to understand feelings, personal boundaries and how to seek help in ways appropriate to their age.
Sharing a concern
Parents and carers should speak to the nursery manager or Designated Safeguarding Lead if they are worried about a child. Where a child may be at risk, we follow statutory guidance and work with the appropriate safeguarding agencies.
